what a fucking ignorant comment. id really like to see you on some decks trying to mix. youd be fucking lost. no idea what to do. DJing is more than just pressing play. you have to match tempos, match volumes, eq all on the fly, just finding two songs that can mix into each other is harder than it sounds. there is no room for screw ups. there are DJs who create entirely new songs out of other songs like DJ Craze and Girl Talk. trust me, its not easy.

@lioii Of couse it's an art form, the turntable can be used as a musical instrument just as any other piece of equipment. If you don't believe me then look up videos of Turntablism on here and it is great skill. I play guitar and DJ and they are both vaild musical art forms

i wouldnt call it an art form, no. Great skill, yes... Its very difficult and can only be mastered through a metric fuckton of practice. I do play an instrument, and whilst i would probably struggle less learning to master DJing than i did learning guitar to a grade 8 level, it cannot be dismissed as just 'playing records', despite it undeniably being exactly that, at a very basic level...

For your benefit, il explain that DJing is not that easy. A decent DJ mixes his whole set together as smoothly as possible, which is difficult. if you are playing two vinyls and you want to mix them together you need to beat-match, whereby you have the beats in sync. Peter hook is pretending to be doing all of these things. people get very defensive about DJing, just as it seems you get very defensive about your country when someone talks shit about it. You're giving shit out, but cant take it!
