I built this prop in response to a "Tag" project started by Stonedcommander. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxwqBq0oreE) In brief, this is how I built it.

1. Printed a full scale image of a gun
2. I cut out that image and used it as a template to cut out three blanks from a spare peice of 1/4 inch wood paneling
3. I then screwed those together and shaped the edges with a sanding drum attachment on my Dremel
4. I sanded the ajoining surfaces to give them some tooth and glued all three peices together. (I did it in 3 peices instead of one solid peice so that it would be easier to add a moving trigger and hammer which I ended up ommitting for the lack of time.)
5. I then formed a barrel out of PVC
6. I carved the barrel cover and other details out of a sheet of dense pink foam insulation.
7. I glued those in place and coated them with two coats of epoxy and sanded them to shape.
8. The trigger and hammer are plastic wall hooks
9. The cylinder that holds the bullets is a cap from my shaving cream.

  • The cylinder is made from the plastic cap of a can of shaving cream. I cut a slot in the side of the cap running from the top to the bottom. I wedged the cap into the square hole of the frame with the slot at the bottom to hold it in place. The open end of the cap is facing the shooter. I then carved two semi circular peices of foam to cover the opening that remained and primed them with latex paint then I glued everything in place with epoxy and sanded it smooth and painted it flat black.

  • how do you aim! lol

  • @DaBlackNinja1 With the laser targeting of course! :)

  • damn cool

  • @dctec9 Thanks! I hope to try again soon. But first I have to build the wife a TV cabinet.

  • Tips for next time:

    - Epoxy and sand all peices BEFORE assembling and take my time

    - Prime foam and wood with a couple of coats of latex paint to hide wood grain and protect foam from the spray paint with will melt it.

    - Make the bullet holder out of wood so I can drill holes for the bullets
