I would say that the only reason people don't do anything is because who wants to be a hero stopping a bike getting stolen if there is the risk of getting knifed or beaten up? People who steal are usually young and fit, anyone less able is going to not feel they are able to stop a thief and for what reward anyway? Furthermore even if someone did just call the police, are they really going to believe the Police will respond quickly enough and want to come out for a petty crime like that?

I believe it was a fake theft. But I'm unsure, it says stooge, which would imply its set up. Also notice 'stealing' in the description.

ITS A SET UP GENIUS... They hired the bike thief to steal their own bike and see if anyone would try and stop him...

Did you think they went and tracked down the same thief 8 times and then he kept coming back to steal the same bike? After leaving his bolt cutters behind the first time? Common sense.

Yes its a perfect example of how nobody really cares. They have even filmed power tool cutting where nobody else was bothered to question it.

Reminds me of a bike I had stolen in 22 years ago where someone walked into the library with my lock and said that they had watched them doing it. I was only away from the bike for a few minutes.

Lesson learnt. Never again with cheap locks and I ride a steel MB town bike now thats worth about £25 max. I keep my best bikes with me.
