I was there, at the Bernabeu in 1980. Afterwards, at the Hotel Barajos I chatted with a Norwegian journalist. He hadn't seen how Fatboy Robertson started the move from the left wing, then cut inside for a one-two to finish it off.
Who remembers the 'Barcelona Shirleys' providing the pathetic entertainment at half-time? What papers reported the brutal way the Spanish police dispersed the singing, celebrating Forest fans when the game was over?

Let it not be said that Forest had an easier time winning those 2 European Cups. In Forest's 1st ever European Cup tie, who did we get? We got the holders, Liverpool, gunning to win their 3rd straight title. Because we stopped them, they had to wait until 2005 before they could actually keep the trophy, which they would have in 1979 as a 3x consecutive winner. We also beat German Champions Cologne enroute. Both times we best Europe's best side, Liverpool and Hamburg.

I don't understand todays' commentators displaying all this certainty in awarding to Guardiola's Barcelona the "title" of Best Team Ever...I won't say that that Clough's Nottingham Forest is, but definitely I'd neither say that it would have very much to envy to present days' Barça...this Roberrtson's goal against Hamburger is definitely a far clever achievement than Messi's goal against Man Utd in last Wembley's final
