Dr. Aaron Cohen-Gadol, a neurosurgeon with Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine, performed an awake craniotomy with brain mapping on an Indiana teenager who was diagnosed with a brain tumor after he discovered he could no longer read the menu at his favorite restaurant. After a successful surgery, the young man started college in August of 2008.

  • why, the brain is moving ? (contraction)

  • @SirLoquendero90 The heart is pumping blood into the brain, so the movement you see is the same pulse as the beating of the heart. Thanks for posting, and we apologize for the delayed response.

  • Dr Cohen did this same surgery for me, in a different location in the brain. He is a rare mix of skill, confidence, humility, and grace. I can't imagine having anyone more competent for this procedure. Thanks, Dr. Cohen, I owe you so much.

  • My dad had a highly successful left temporal awake craniotomy last April.

We are from Kansas city, but flew to San Fran and the AMAZING Dr. Mitchel Berger and his extraordinary team performed the surgery. Recovery does not come easy though. He was released shortly, but the long road began then as he began chemo for the next year and had to regain math, reading and writing abilities. After months of speech and occupational therapy things are basically back to normal. I am forever thankful!

  • truely amazing, I wish more people knew about this.
