You know what I've noticed? Drummers and bassists love Tool and guitarists are usually just like, "Eh, they're alright." You know why? Because this music is all about the rhythm section.  Adam Jones is a minimalist, but he's fucking great at it.

@PootStip you must have missed my second response haha, I agree with you exactly now that you've phrased it like that, I think I just got defensive when it seemed like you were undermining the role of guitar in the band and as a guitarist I personally took it as an insult to guitarists in general the way you said we are just apparently like "Eh, they're alright." . But I get where you are coming from now, I wrote that comment at like 4am in a haze haha.

@burnsy182 Chill out, guy. No one's saying minimalism is a bad thing or that it makes him less of a guitarist. In my opinion, it's way harder to do what he does than what most metal guitarists do. He takes the perfect notes and puts them in the perfect spots, instead of just mindlessly filling up space with unnecessary shredding riffs like a Dimebag (RIP) or a Zakk Wylde. Some people will tell you Tool guitar parts are easy to play, but they're NOT easy to write.

@PootStip you're a fucking idiot man, most Tool fans I know are guitarists and I know a shit load of Tool fans. Adam Jones is a minimalist!? Give me some of whatever the fuck you are smoking man. His guitar work is on a different level, maybe you're just not musically aware enough to realise how complicated the parts he writes are. Shame on you belittling his input to the music by saying "it's all about the rhythm section". Maybe you just need better headphones.

@PootStip true, and adam jones is also a percussive, rhythmic guitarist in a way that many players choose not to be.
