  • @explosivefreak666: Thanks for the info, but I don't particularly want a visit from the BATFE - I'll stick with history.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 As am I, a civil history nerd, that is. The chemistry of powders & explosives, is also an intresting topic to me. Thanx for pointing out Hoag's book, didn't know that. Being a member of Scibd.com, I'm sure to find it, as there is, as you surly know, a library full of usefull info, on the matter at hand...

  • @explosivefreak666: I just read my history, and the late Ian Hoag's great book, "Tank Killing," which delves into alot of the tech behind shaped charges, EFPs, and much else besides. EFPs, shaped charges, et al. are based mostly upon the Monroe Effect, which has been described scientifically since the late 1800s. I'm just a civilian military history nerd, so this is the closest I'll probably ever get to any of this stuff.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 Correctemundo,..Refreshing, to hear of someone, who knows what he's talking about.!

  • @K1dKrusade: Close, what you've described produces a molten jet, like an RPG or other shaped charge, which cuts through the target. For it to be an EFP, the slug (starter metal) has to "self-forge" into a projectile as a result of the detonation. Anyway, for it is worth, that's the difference as I understand it....

  • @explosivefreak666: Also known as an "off-route" mine. If I remember correctly, the late Ian Hoag, British arms expert and historian, said the charge was in a backpack, with a steel plate facing the "target," the armored limo of a German bank executive. This isn't new knowledge, but there have been some refinements in it, such as airburst and top-attack weapons that use EFPs.

  • There is a bit of confusion in some posts here between EFP weapons and shaped charge weapons. They aren't precisely the same thing, although they have commonalities. Shaped charge weapons have been in widespread use since WWII, in weapons like the bazooka, Panzerfaust and Panzershrek, and later, the Svoeit RPG family of weapons. EFPs, on the other hand, use a slug of metal which is forged by the directed flow of the explosion - into a projectile, hence the word "penetrator."

  • Hahaha....silly Americans. Learn from your enemies jow to KILL CHEAPLY and EFFICIENTLY. Your hi tech, hi cost toys ae so easily fucked by low tech, super cheap and crude HOME MADE weapons. hahahaaaa....typical stupid Americans. So, to protect from EFPs, silly Americans will come up with a new type of super expensive armour that will make US and Americans even poorer. hahaaaaaa.....Americans, you fuckers never learn, do ya???

  • 'Here's an idea you probably haven't thought of . . .'

  • @iloveafg123 Well you certainly are not smart, I can say that much. :)
