JOHNSTOWN — Democratic Sen. Barack Obama brought his campaign for the White House to the area yesterday, delighting a capacity crowd that came out to see him at the Greater Johnstown Area High School.
The nomination front-runner's message of hope and change brought the crowd to its feet more than a half-dozen times, as well as earning him a key endorsement from Sen. Robert Casey Jr.
"I have been impressed with his ability to inspire people wherever he goes," Casey told the more than 1,400 people gathered in the gymnasium.
"Starting today we have a chance to take America down a different path, a path of change, and a path of healing," he said.
Obama's sentiments echoed Casey's closely during the forum style-event, where the candidate opened with a speech and then took a number of questions from the crowd.

  • I have a black friend who is not supporting Obama, and so far he has been called a Uncle Tom, an oreo, and many other hateful terms. I guess our freedom of speech only applies to those who want to complain, and if anyone one should confront them, they should be sileneced. And I thought Bush was the one to destroy the Constituition, It seems to me the Liberal left have done more to destroy it than Bush.

  • He will say what ever it takes to secure votes. I am white male, and I have encoutered morons who say I should vote against him because he is black, I am beyond that, I will not support him, because of his views, and nothing else. Either way I have been called racist. My lack of support stems from his views, not his race. but I guess his views do not matter. He is of African decent, so all Africans must vote for him, regardless of his views.

  • Look at Il., the unemployment rate is one of the highest in the country, violence is out of control, corruption is controling this Government. Yet Mr. Obama refers to Il. as a example of the good he has done. And you cannot blame the Reps, because Il. is controlled by Dems. Daley, Blago, Obama, and Durbin, these are the people who control the state and look how well it is doing. Obama is a joke, He has no stances, no views, and no opinions.

  • Mabybe i can actually exprss my opinion on this post. God knows Mr. Obama refuses any post that is critical. So much for free speech. As a person who lives in Il, and a person who voted for this Man both times. I could not be more dissappointed. To me he is a liar and a man who will say whatever it takes to get elected, too many people ignore the truth and support him for the worng reasons.
