Pintor francés, nacido el 19 de julio de 1834 en París y fallecido en la misma capital el 27 de septiembre de 1917. De él se ha dicho que es uno de los mejores pintores a la hora de recoger el movimiento. Utilizó mucho el pastel en sus obras. Este trabajo recoge sus obras más conocidas, todas relacionadas con el mundo del ballet.
