@HeavyMetalZen All of the 4 greatest Islamic scholars were Sufis. The Prophet(pbuh) taught this Science to Abu Bakr(ra), Ali(ra) and to a couple of others.
The king of Saints among saints, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani(ra) said:
Shariah is the tree, Tareeqat(Sufism) is the branches, Ma'arafat(Being in Love relation with God, not one sided) is the leaves, Haqeeqat(The ultimate truth, Allah) is the fruit.

we have Quran we have hadiths we have sunnah
our prophet was the one who understand the Quran perfectly
hadiths and sunnah are explanations of the holy Quran
learning our Prophet-saw means learning hadith and sunnah thus Quran
there is nothing wrong in what the Sheikh is telling since our Lord is saying obeying Rasool is obeying Allah Almighty
if you suggest to learn about İbrahim-as
that is ok for me what is wrong learning about Muhammed-saw who is the last prophet sent to mankind

the seal of prophets most beloved servant of Allah Almighty is Muhammed Allahissalam pbuh
he who excelled in servanthood,he who mercy upon mankind,he who will be giving intercession hereafter, whose ego became muslim, not a single not a tiny disobedience to his LORD.
From whom can we learn to be servant of Allah Almighty?
think sincerely why Sheikh is advising to learn about him
Allah Almighty sent us Quran & our prophet, not only Quran,Prophet came to teach us Quran & servathood

Agreed. There is no Sufism outside of the Shari'a (Islam).
-
Disagreed, as the Prophet would often pray for a long life for certain Sahabas, like Anas ibn Malik (hadith), who lived past 100.

SHAYKH NAZIM SULTAN ZINDABA
I respect Sufism greatly. But I think Islamic Sufism is the only real sufism. I think that any Sufism which even hints at breaking away from Islam is really just a re-hashing of Buddhism, Taoism and Vedanta, with only a few differences.

es Salaamu Alaikum brother...we should bear in mind that to wish someone "long life" is irrelevant, since Allah swt has decreed life & death of of all persons.
however, may the righteous messages of anyone or anything that leads to The Truth of Allah swt, there is no god except Allah swt, then, of course, long live these messages.
may Allah swt make all of our difficulties easy en sha Allah.
