Swarna Mali Sey Rajano - Nanda Malini

Ruwanwalisaya - Built by the great King Dutugemunu. Arahat Mahinda predicted to King Kavantissa that one of his grandsons would built the great Stupa.
King Dutugemunu built the stupa nearly 2100 years ago. This is the most venerated and greatest of all Buddhist Stupas of Sri Lanka and thus known as the Great Stupa or Mahastupa.
Regarded as containing the largest number of the sacred relics of the Lord Buddha - believed to be 1/8th of the sacred relics.
The current height of the stupa is an astounding 338 feet. The stupa has a circumference of 370 feet and is the oldest brick stupa in the world.
Several kings restored Ruwanveliseya over the years and was lastly done in 1196 by King Nissankamalla.

Next to "Sri Maha Bhodiya", "Ruwanweli Maha Seya" is my most favorite place in Sri Lanka.....I always wondered how beautiful it could have been during "King Dutta Gamani" era..thanks for posting this clip...!!!
