A quick video along with a short article on CwhatIcanDo.com describing the new picAxe 18m2 chip. I was in the middle of testing an 18x driving an LM-298 motor driver board. I had a couple of servos, and you know what a problem that is for a picAxe... So I blew out the 18x and found the 18m2 on the rev-ed site. They were talkin' about the m2 and what a great chip it was. It was! I ordered three of 'em from SparkFun and the Fun began.
It's a pretty amazing chip. Not only are the "normal" timing issues gone, (You can drive a servo and do a PWM at the same time now. Better still you can actually run a process that lets your range finder feed you distance from object data so you can decide if you need to slow down when the walls get close.
I'm putting together a fairly complete unit. Still looking for the perfect dogBot setup :-) Let's see what we can do with all this program space and extra data space. And those lovely 4 processes running at once. Already I can react to the IR in some imaginative ways. I'm still testing but...
