  • Alco and MLW made the best engines!

  • @TrainGuy18 that they did

  • ohh okay I understand you. Its nice to hear that one will be saved from Via Rail. The LRC locomotive will be moved from Via Rail's maintenance facility to the Toronto Roundhouse and will be kept in operating condition. yay!!

  • @dmncau I didn't know that they were able to raise the money to save 6917. It was one of the ones I had seen in the summer along with 6914 and 6919 in VIA's Mimico facility. That's great to hear. They have been trying to raise funds since mid May.

  • @tjmfishing one of those 2 remaining should goto the Elgin County RR Musem in St. Thomas Ontario and the other to the Canadian RR Museum in Quebec case closed if they do not have one problem saved locomotives saved :) you should come to ON to see the Ontario Southland RR my neightbor is a shareholder in that RR they got tons of MLWs

  • @dmncau I'd love to . I have seen videos of their ex CP RS-18u's. Most of my dad's family (except my grandparents and us) live between Niagra Falls and Bowmanville. We will be up again sometime.

  • They may have been a burden for cn and cp but they looked good.

  • @dmncau I actually don't plan on it as it doesn't fit my era and my turns are too tight to accomodate a passanger train. I also model NB/PEI/Quebec, not Ontario.

  • cool, I know in 1994 Via Rail tested the LRC for the last time at speeds of 125 mph on the Kingston Sub, but the upsrung locomotive weight issue limited the LRC to speeds of 100 mph, Via Rail planned to install lightweight gas turbine engines to solve the problem, but never happened, be sure to get the rapido trains HO scake model of the LRC train when the come out!!!

  • @dmncau @dmncau The only time I saw an LRC was last summer in Mimico on the deadline. I used to hate the look of them when I was little. There would always be VIA Rail cutouts of the LRC train that you would put together along with three coaches at my grandparents house. I guess whenever someone came home by train they woudl get a few and leave them for us kids to play with. I used to wonder what they were as the only thing I had ever seen were F40's.
