  • Please. You dont have a clue. Our horses are loved and very well cared for. Broken souls? Dont make me laugh. My horses are very happy. And yes, we all have at least two horses. They are rotated throughout the yr to farms. Maybe you should do more research into the subject first, instead of opening your mouth about something you obviuosly know noting about.

  • Well said! And all true. I can attest to that from personal experience.

  • A valuable horse like this receives tremendous care and the owner is unlikely to push him past his limits of fitness and patience. Unlike grass, most feeds won't clump up around a bit, so it really isn't a big deal. Horses are made to eat almost non-stop, so I'm glad to see him getting a snack while working. It's better than feeding them two big meals.

  • All the people I know who own carriage horses treat them like members of the family. They all have had the experience of stying up all night with a sick animal. The pepople who hand out literature on the streets accusing carriage drivers of abusing the animals are simply slandering decent people. Yes, the horse in the video may have had a long day, but I can state without reservation that it was well acred for.

  • Poor guy.. He looks tired!

  • I agree. I shot this at about midnight and who knows how long the animal spent on the streets. I understand that the City places limits on the hours, but we also have speed limits and laws against bank robbery - but they do get broken, yes?

  • Broken soul? He's tossing his collar, looking around, and eating fairly enthusiastically even though he doesn't look like he's missed too many meals. He looks like a normal, happy, working horse to me. I agree that many of the NYC horses are broken down and need retirement, but this is not one of them.

  • @banknownothings Truefully being a horse owner myself I think the horses much rather do this then being stuck in a stall all day like other performance horses.
