Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi is a well known folk singer and poet of Pakistan. He hails from the famous Niazi tribe of the Pashtun people. Other famous personalities from this tribe are Imran Khan, Cricketer and politician, Majid Khan, an international cricketer and Muneer Niazi, a famous poet.
Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi holds the world record for the highest number of audio albums ever released by any singer. He is traditionally considered a Seraiki artist but he has mostly recorded albums in Punjabi and Urdu. He has recorded more than 402 albums and is listed in the Guinness book of world records. The reason behind his astonishing success is his very simple but emotional style of singing along with his choice of poetry, Poetry which highlights the plight of heart broken lovers, downtrodden and underdogs of society. He has dominated the folk music scene of Indo- Pak for over forty years. He gathers thousands as his audiences whenever and wherever he gives a live performance.
