川島芳子さんが養父に宛てた手紙より・・・
父上様　　今日、弁護士から父上様のお手紙と村の代表者からの嘆願書を見せ て貰い、涙が出そうでしたが、泣きませんでした。
今、監獄からこの手紙を書いて居ります。

父上のご健在を知り、嬉しくてなりません。
この他に何も心配もありません。　私は死刑の宣告を受けました。　その理由がなかなか面白いのです。　清朝の復興を計った事が大罪になるようです。　それと日本のスパイだと言うのです。　亡き父の子、父上の子として恥じぬ態度で死ねば良いのです。

「あの子は困った奴で、学校は退学されるし、落第ばかりして、言 う事は聞かないから捨て子だ。」などと仰らないでください。　父上は子供可愛さに仰る事が直ぐ新聞種になりますし、それが世間 でまたワイワイ言うのです。

私は毎日元気です。　父上もお丈夫で必ず生きて居て下さい。　父上の事ですから、全財産を売って国債にうめられた事と思います が、私も父上の子ですから偉い人間になるつもりです。
