The duet 'O namenlose Freude' from Beethoven's Fidelio, Leonore - Kirsten Flagstad, Florestan - René Maison, Orchestra of the Metropolitan Opera conducted by Bruno Walter, 1941.
This is how the Opera SHOULD be conducted. Full of energy and passion! Modern composers take the beginning and end way too slow! This is perfect! and the Flagstad is amazing as always. Maison is a new voice to me, and it's pleasant!
Nice excerpt - I still prefer Nilsson/Hopf. ... BTW, might have a CLUE, about who "thehappymonkey" might be. It's a very-fine excerpt, anyway!
