Naomi Klein on Climate Debt: Why Rich Countries Should Pay Reparations To Poor Countries For The Climate Crisis.
With the Copenhagen climate summit two weeks ago, best-selling journalist Naomi Klein examines the grass-roots movement behind the climate debate proposal that argues all the costs associated with adapting to a more hostile ecology—everything from building stronger sea walls to switching to cleaner, more expensive technologies—are the responsibility of the countries that created the crisis. Klein also discusses the 10th anniversary of the Seattle WTO protests and the 10th anniverary of her first book, No Logo.
This principle should be applied to the financial crisis as well. The country that started it all should have to pay for all the economic losses of other countries that were also affected but were not directly responsible.

Again, we are talking about a World that is not focused on the real problems. Consumerism, profit growth, and energy consumption, is the cycle that needs to be broken. Just simply switching to green technology is not the solution because we will come up to a tipping point on something else. Growth cannot go on forever. At some point it will all stop. A finger-pointing summit will never work unless the real problems are addressed.

Industrialization and the corporations that have emerged have not been regulated to account for what they create. In other words, accountability for the products they produce to the recycle process. If they want to talk about money they cannot simply make the people pay through taxation. After all, where else does a government get money, AND who stands to profit from the World Bank shares?

The British Scientist, Nicholas Stern, estimated the costs of climate change, already in 2006 for the British Government. In the meantime, he stated, that he has been too optimistic at that time. German Insurance Companies are just estimating the probable costs? Who is working on the cause and effect spiral?
