Come on people, You should have a good idea on what is Active and what is passive The Evo is a passive pick up. I just put it back in to my guitar because any pup with higher gain will NOT work well with your sustainer. Got it? Good.

ok, so if i were to buy the fernandes revolver elite guitar, which has the sustainer included, but also comes stock with an emg 81, should i just switch over to passive pups?

No the emg 81 has much much less gain than the SD AHB-2b Metel blackout.

I know whats happening!! your getting confused because of the sustainer!!!
Passive Evolution pups DONT need 9v of power to work. BUT my sustainer DOES!!
And I have the Evolution plugged INTO my sustainer. The Seymour Duncan Metal Blackout hade far to much gain to work well with my sustainer.
