I remember hearing Lowell Thomas in those last years, but I had no idea he was over 90 years of age when he finally retired. Amazing. CBS had him on radio and Cronkite on TV. again, amazing. Glad this has survived.

What a life this guy lived. He actually visited with Laurence of Arabia in the Middle East. A real journalist.

What a destiny! This man virtually lived through, and documented, the entire 20th century. When this was aired, he had passed the age of 90.
Really a fascinating man and a life which almost any other man can only dream of.

@MarkJ1961 Also, the usual CBS Radio hourly newscast feed was SIX-minutes (not five-min's) in the 1970s (and still is today), and that included Lowell Thomas in the 1970s. Two min's of commercials within a six-minute network news feed. Of course, the morning CBS World News Roundup and The World Tonight used to be 14.5 and 15 min's respectively, and are now 10 and 9 min's respectively (World Tonite now called World News Roundup Late Edition). ALSO, love that old time network "audio" quality! :)

Dennis, CBS Radio did NOT use CBS-TV's "eye" logo back then (1970s), so when you have the logo video at the hourly BONG, it should be the CBS Radio 1968-thru-mid(?)80's "wavelength" logo! That "wavelength" logo was frequently interspaced between the 'D' and 'O' of RADIO, as in "CBS-RAD)))|(((O".
