Marsha Mason lived in an iron lung for more than 55 years. Despite this, she was able to write a book, send email, surf the internet, and maintain strong connection with friends, church, and the entire community of Lattimore, North Carolina. Mary M. Dalton's award-winning documentary explores Martha's past, her philosophy of life, and her relationship with the world.

  • I respect her courage I know I would rather die than live like that

  • Wow, this is where I grew up (in Lattimore). It is a beautiful town and maybe one day my children can grow up there. It is a very caring community. The people of Double Springs and Lattimore were good to my family when my grandmother passed away.

  • No one sets out to make money on documentaries - they only try to share stories that would otherwise go unheard. A selfish comment is the only exploit here.....

  • i see that this was uploaded right after the woman's passing. it's always nice to exploit death for your own professional advancement.
