I think Super Sentai jumped the shark after Timeranger. Well for me atleast. The ones I really enjoy that came after Timeranger were Hurricanger, Abaranger, Boukenger, Gekiranger, and Shinkenger. I do love how Magiranger atleast had threatening monsters.

@nightman39 I dig Dai Bouken. Ultimate Dai Bouken is probably my favorite clusterfuck. It's a combination of two robots really, just like Deka Robo and Deka Bike Robo. Dai Bouken combining with their secondary robot they never use, Dai Tanken.

@anti4kids2000 yeah Ultimate Dai Bouken was cool but unfortunately when Go-onger came on the clusterfuck mechs got out of hand. Shinkenger and Goseiger are guilty of that too

and lets not forget,in Bioman they killed off the first Yellow Ranger and had her replaced with a new female yellow ranger,that was quite dark and emotional.

Thats true,and yes i've seen alot of those henshin commercials,but even so the overall storylines can appeal both to younger and older demographic,it's the same for Shounen jump and Shoujo/Magical girl animes in general,they appeal to both kids (Toy wise in action figures) and an older demographic (storyline wise).

I saw a few episodes of Fiveman,i have yet to finish it,but from what i've seen,most of the episodes indeed looked light hearted.

@ChronoArcAile4000 Actually Fiveman is pretty damn lighthearted too. Dairanger is one of the darkest series out there. Also, all Sentai series mainly targeted a younger audience. Watch the commercials on the henshin device and weapons if you don't believe me.

I think it's because by mid 90's and 2000's they want to try to appeal sentai to both an older and younger audiance,ever since zyuuranger,they wanted to make each series more lighter in tone,if you think about it,most of the 80's and early 90's sentais were pretty dark and depressing especially Jetman and Liveman (which i'm currently watching)

it's the same for Kamen Rider,Kamen rider black was far by the darkest,and recent entries try to appeal to a younger au
