Clay Ross brings his 10th Annual Reunion Concert to two of Anderson's finest entertainment destinations in one night. Clay and his band will perform an 8pm concert at the Electric City Playhouse on Wednesday Dec. 22nd. At 11pm, that same night ,the band will host an after-party, performing at the Burgundy Blues Jazz Club. Tickets for the early show are $15 and all ticket holders will be granted free admission to Burgundy Blues. For those who wish to bypass the concert and head straight to the after-party, there will be a $10 cover at the door.
Since 2000, Ross has reunited with longtime collaborators for late December tours in the Southeast. This year, Anderson natives Ross, Brian Mulholland (Bass) and Adam Snow (Drums) welcome special guest fiddler Duncan Wickle, a native of Asheville NC currently based in Boston, MA.
Composer, singer-songwriter, and producer, Ross has become an in-demand guitarist on the NYC jazz, world, and roots music scenes. He completed four international tours as a U.S. Jazz Ambassador before a 4-year stint with world-renowned Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista. In addition to co-leading his own touring group "Matuto," he currently performs at bluegrass festivals across North America with rising folk star April Verch. For these concerts Ross will perform selections from his 3 critically acclaimed solo albums and his latest release "Entre Nous," showcasing influences of jazz, blues, bluegrass, latin, folk, rock, and contemporary music.
With "Entre Nous" Clay broke from the traditional album format by serving up a series of downloads, one song at a time. With influences from John Lennon to John Coltrane, the album plays like a genre hopping mix tape. "Looking through old boxes we discovered that my grandmother had a book club called Entre Nous," explains Ross. "French for 'between us' we thought this would be a perfect title for a collection of songs delivered straight from us to our online community." These digital downloads have been available online since February and Ross plans to re-release the songs as a full album in March of 2011.
Clay and his band are engaging performers whose artistry and musicianship transcend genres. With one foot planted firmly in the great traditions of American music, and the other stepping boldly into the future, they give dynamic and inspiring live performances.
