One Harley And a Jap bike 1/8 mile . 730lbs vs 385lbs Harley just back from a canada ride motor work stock gearing BELT Drive 92 octane BP Fuel . GSXR 1000 Local bike on trailer Shinko extended arm air shifter optional gearing VP racing fuel
My Harley's have all outlasted my jappers whether they be cruisers or sport. Plus, I can sell it with 50k miles on it for 10k. Seems like a no brainer to me.
@outlawstl That math is ok for 3rd graders...but, sport bikes were designed to reach triple digit speeds, stop faster than most have the skill to,hold lines at lean angles around turns that Harley riders would crap there pants around, and if we want to talk Engine technology...well there is none in a Harley twin....basically the same design since what the inception of Harley? lol
Don't get me wrong...both R great for what they were designed for..one is a couch with wheels and one is a rocket :D
Harley riders roll while sportbikers ride- They grip the bars tight in fear of falling over While we lean from side to side- They get mad cause they cant wheelie and wont throw a peace as they pass by- Thats ok cause they walk while we fly- and dont get me wrong I dont hate the growl of the twin- but the howl of the inline four sounds soo good it makes me wanna sin- Beating lambos on the regular at a fraction of the price- allows for more green to spend on the rice XD
Harley D's are made for rednecks so they can claim some BS heritage, when all the hardwares are made in Asia. You pay premium for Mexican assembly. Japan makes the best bikes, from the low end mopeds all over Indonesia to the street rockets in Johannesburg.
All these H-D guys dumping $10,000+ to make a $16,000+ bike go fast makes me laugh...I could spend $4000 for a turbo and they would never catch me on my $10,000 Buell. I would half the money in my bike to go faster.
I had the Harley love affair for years and would never admit what a poor bike it really was. A 80 HP bike @ 800 Lb.s is a poor set-up doomed for failure from the get go. It was a cult thing at best. I bought a 1999 Ninja a years ago and that bike changed my mind for good. 1/2 the price and superior in every category. And you know what? That old Ninja is STILL running today and will make quick work against any "stock" Harley.
not true about the $10k to go that fast. If you ever see the rod and piston on the Harley v. the jap bike you would understand why the harley is good for the 1/8 mile race. Rod is twice as long and piston almost double in size, rod length=torque, torque=low end power which in turn = winner of the short race. easy math !!
@mahmahmonkey LOL Harley just recalled all of its bikes between 2009 and 2012 because of brake electric switch problems. Go figure!

LOL my Honda Nighthawk CB750 with it's inline 4 can beat most stock Harleys in the Quarter that are over 1000cc!
