Each of the 13 hospitals at Texas Health Resources employs a Chief Quality Officer a physician executive who partners with physicians, nurses and staff at all levels to bring about continual improvements in the quality and safety of care for all patients.
The concept is, Are you proactive; are you thinking in advance? said Dr. Mark Lester, vice president and Chief Quality Officer at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Were always looking at what we do and how we can make it better.
In a nutshell, thats what Lester does every day. As Chief Quality Officer of an 898- bed, acute care hospital, he is integrally involved in analyzing how we deliver care, identifying opportunities for improvement, and encouraging and facilitating improvement across every area of service the hospital provides.
In this video, Dr. Lester talks about key ways in which teams of caregivers can interact to deliver care in a better fashion. This includes building processes of care and using evidence-based bundles, or sets of scientifically-validated processes that can be used to more efficiently and safely deliver care to patients undergoing risky procedures.
