  • This is completely absurd. Who hasn't pointed their cap guns, fingers, bb rifles, nerf guns, etc. at an airplane before? How is this any different? There is no warning on my laser pen saying "do not point at airplanes or helicopters". I clearly remember pointing my tiny 5mw dollar store laser at airplanes, and some kid gets arrested because his laser cost more, and is therefore more powerful? It is completely legal to keep guns in our home as protection, but illegal to play with a laser light?

  • @jakefromdahood this is a huge problem. guns are legal but you can shoot airplanes with then either..

  • What about beam divergence? Taking a 100mw laser and shining it a someone's eye at distance like if you where shining it at a plane would be harmless. It's only 1km at distance so the the dot would be the size of a tennis ball thus only about 5mw of light entering your pupil,IT WON'T BLIND YOU, unless you shine it at a close distance.

  • @npr101010 i have a buddy that flys helicopters for a living and this is a problem. I had to ask him about it to get an honest answer. I thought it was all media hype at first.

  • @austindude15 Pilots DEPEND on thier eyes to fly. The green lasers can blind even at great distances. If you are dumb enough to do something like this you deserve to be arrested

  • Hahaha

    "What you in here for?"

    "Robbed a store. N you?"

"Ohh.. Pointed a laser at a chopper.."

  • sounds like somthing ted nugent would do...hes such a dick.

  • @jakefromdahood Laser light is coherent and it not very weak at those distances.

  • wow wtf stupid pigs jus like to ruin peoples lifes over something so little they need a laser from my sniper on there head so i can pull the trigger fuck the police

  • Surely he should be educated and forced to apolagise to the pilot and then let off with a warning and then if it continues, send him to detention!?

  • I would say a reprimand from a police officer should be sufficient and let the parents handle it from there. If it should happen again, something a more harsh would seem in order.

  • @xRandomAccount123 That may be so, but the kid was very far away, and a laser that he could pay for would be pretty weak. The boy deserved a lecture, not anything more.

  • @mtb6 Scary isn't it. I've seen lasers burn rubber and leather before, but really, we have access to a lot of more dangerous things in our homes.

  • @rarebasses Bruce Bates deserve to be fired! Sending a 13-year-old kid to jail for a freaking laser pointer is ridiculous. It's not the kid's fault, how would he know? The producer of the laser pointer could be sued for not having adequate warning labels, or the police could warn the child about the potential dangers of his activities, but an immediate arrest is just sickening.
