Hate constantly blinking lights.It's so annoying when I ride my bicycle with NORMAL lights on and some stupid sh@t comes in my direction with these things.It's is bloody DISTRACTING! That's why it's forbidden.That's why cars don't blink like a Christmas tree.Not to mention that there is a tiny chance(but still there is a chance) there there is a photo-epileptic person and your blinking hits the right frequency.Than the sh@t will hit the fan.
Voice-control is cool though.

Flashing lights are not illegal in the UK , copyright the design and sell it to cateye or smart, I would buy one, it's a great idea.

...nope. Blinking front or backlights are forbidden in our country. Simply said: Whatever improves safety is forbidden... until it becomes mandatory! There are examples enough for this statement!

You cant really say it react to the specific "blink" command, since you have only one.... :)

Yes, other AVR projects will follow.
Yes it is hobby - and profession as well! I am about to retire. So there will be more time to "display" projects here!
No, I do not plan to alter the helmet program at this time. Although I wanted it to react to spoken morse code(flash / up / down, or so). But it turned out to be more complicated than I thought. Maybe later.
