This video by Dr. David Oster discusses quadriceps tendon tears. The quad tendon is the largest tendon in the body and can be torn with activities. It is important to make the diagnosis early and treatment consists of sewing the tendon back together.

My problem was not on my quadriceps but on my Pc. Major... I had a rupture of the tendon 2 years ago, made a surgery to reinsert the tendon on the bone and now i had a rupture of the muscle, the tendon is on the place.
What can i do now? Another surgery or just fysiotherapy?

I suffered complete ruptures of my quadriceps tendons in both of my knees. My left knee was torn when I was 29 years old and my right knee was torn at age 37.

Suffered complete tear of the left quad tendon in a fall on ice at work in 2000.I heard a popping sound when mine broke.Thought I broke my leg because i couldn't get up on my own. Had the surgery 3 days later, did the brace thing and all the rehab but the knee and quad muscles have never never felt the same. It is a work comp injury so i ended up with a slight 3% total body disability and 7% disibility on the leg itself. Still work everyday and will keep working. Good video!

I tore mine walking down the stairs at my ambulance station a year ago. Unfortunately, I also damaged my hip and my back. I never had any problem with my quads before. Really good video.

Very informative video. I to fell victim to a quad tendon ruptue. I was walking down my sloped driveway one early winter moring, in my bathrobe and slippers. The pavement was slipery. The forward motion of my 330lbs frame caused my right leg to shoot out infront of me, my left leg stayed planted and all that weight came down resulting in me staring up at the early moring sky (did not feel pain). I kept try to stand and contiued to drop to the cement. Had to crawl inside and call 911.
