Thrift Stores in bigger cities are SO picked over nowadays. It is nearly impossible to find a huge stack of gems on an average trip to the thrift stores. In this economy, it is nearly impossible to make a full time income selling books online as AZclassroom suggests. I just type the isbn into the Amazon search section on my cell phone. Then the info on the book comes up. Check the "product details" for the book's rank. Just practice a few times on some books in your home before going out looking for books.

@hzzn I think you have to have an eye for what would be popular and what is usuable to others, like textbooks and what has been popular on NewYork Times best seller list, etc.

From my experience selling used books can be complicated. Finding used books is the easy part but finding used books that are actually worth selling is the harder and most time consuming part. I once went to a used book sale and used my cell phone to look up starting used prices and rankings on Amazon. Basically I ended up looking up about 20 worthless books. This told me that the used books that are worth selling are going to be in the minority out there among used books.

@jgunnm1 An awful lot depends on supply and demand. A pristine book that's common still won't be worth much.

I think he's exaggerating about the profit margins. I brought six book at an estate sale @ 50 cent each and there like new condition . The margin is no more than two or three dollars tops.
