Excerpt from her bio:

"Enough with accessible children's films! thought I, as I plunged headlong into a controversial series about overpopulation and the environment. The centerpiece of this trilogy, which I now call my "Fertility Cycle," was the 3-and-a-half minute The Stork (2002), in which a serene natural landscape is bombed by bundles of joy. I expected the film to be extremely unpopular, and possibly end my animation career; although I was now confident in my abilities as an animator, I knew the subject matter would anger viewers. The Stork did anger some, but much to my surprise it was my most successful film yet, winning first prize at the EarthVision Environmental Film Festival and an unsolicited invitation to Sundance (2003). This experience confirmed that taking great risks in art can lead to greater rewards. I also experienced a powerful catharsis; once The Stork and my other population films were completed, I was relieved of a huge burden of anger. I truly exorcized some demons with that project."

Note from SkepticalProgressive:

I reconverted the video using Sony Vegas and have uploaded it here in higher quality due to the general poor quality of other copies on Youtube (likely due to being converted directly from the MOV file available on Nina's website).

  • @ANGELxINxDESARKNS But humans are capable of expressing empathy and altruism all of the time, so there is no reason to behave in manner as if we lack compassion.

  • @ANGELxINxDESARKNS so let me get this right, we can exploit and dominate disabled people + african slavery would be acceptable according to your philosophy?!! rape would also be acceptable? These things happen in nature because non human animals do not always have a concept of morals and their decisions are based on survival, not exploitation for explotation's sake.

  • @cafeaulait69 we have the right to have dominion over whatever or whoever we are capable of having dominion over. This is the true nature of life, as seen in nature.

  • @ANGELxINxDESARKNS do we have the right to have dominion over mentaly inferior humans???

  • @theantinatalist Natural forces are certainly not blind, in fact the universe is holographic, information of the whole can be found in any single part. If unethical use of planetary resources is catastrophic for humans, thats too bad, I said I found them interesting, and that my realization of that vs the mental inferiority of other species gives me a right to claim dominion over them. In fact I believe my ability to do so is my right. The universe is lawless in relation to humankind.

  • so that means the reason behind but probably not the direct source of our emotional attachment is simple genetic mutations which is just the nature of things. My final point is that saying the human race is destroying the planet is so dramatic. Life is resilient, in a worse case scenario life will continue to exist, maybe not in the birds flying in the sunset hippie dreams you have, but frankly that is irrelevant. The only purpose humans have is to expand the species, given to us by nature.

  • I cant say what i think in public because the majority of people are hypocritical, selfish, idealists. Your perspective is 100% bias since you are in fact a human. If you remove all emotional human bias its apparent that nothing really matters. Im not trying to sound like a philosopher, but i do believe what i say since i have no reasonable evidence otherwise. And about the loved ones comment, you know that society is just an evolutionary advantage to propagate the species more efficiently.

  • @theantinatalist except that form of suffering is obviously not what life suffers from as a whole. The point is life in a whole is like on big chemical reaction slowly resolving itself, nothing more. Of course Id cry like a bitch if you pulled my toenails, but will the universe cry about it? I think not. If you define significance in relation to a person or community, sure suffering is significant, but signficance itself is also questionable, as no one knows why we are here.

  • @theantinatalist lol like any of that matters, consumption, suffering, all insignificant.

  • @theantinatalist So you have nothing but delusions that encourage you to end "pointless suffering." Well, have fun with that.
