@KikoBarahona well said indeed

@Zebonka they are kind of stupid to expect the idiots in charge right now to do this stuff. DUMB ECONOMY!!!!

@sniped101 first of all current technology doesn't allow humans to live outside low earth orbit because without the Earth's magnetic field, there's not known pratical way to shield astronauts for a long time.
Secondarily we have the technology to populate Antarctica but only scientific bases exist there.
Last but not least, wars are sadly profitable economically and politically: space colonization isn't.

I think the Space Race arrived too early, much of humanity wasn't ready (mentally, emotionally, geopolitically or economically) to think seriously about our species branching out into space.
It's probably still too early, our leaders and the nations of the world are far more concerned with terrestrial issues (especially with economies and armed conflict)
maybe by the mid to late 21st century, our species will truly have space colonies and begin, in earnest, our voyage to the stars.

@KikoBarahona don't be a cynic. go watch spacerip's youtube channel and research Burt Rutan. There are more people doing this today than back then.

@KikoBarahona idk.. every now and then i look up at the sky and just amazed.. no doubt in my mind that we could have had a cure for cancer,had a space station in space and anything else we wanted to do. Hell, even the god in the bible said "nothing can stop them (us) if they are working together, not even me" so he comes down here and confuses our language. If only we could just follow the simple golden rule... ah well, hopefully my children will have it better.
What pisses me off the most is that people look at this and think "heh heh heh, stupid 70's people!", when in actual fact WE are the dumbasses for not building this motherfucker. Space stations are badass, and so was the space shuttle. Fuck you if you think any differently!

70's people looked up to the stars.
Today's people look down to their ipods.
I miss the future, we've been robbed :-(
