How to play - Money For Nothing

This video will show you how to play Money For Nothing by Dire Straits.

It's quite simple, but learning it will arm you with some nice little licks you can use throughout your playing. For this one, don't use a pick at all. Instead, you'll be using your thumb and index finger to simultaneoulsy pluck two strings.
The guitar used on the original was a Gibson Les Paul Studio Pro. I used a Fender Deluxe Telecaster* for this example, with a warm overdrive setting on the effects unit.
I don't know the type of amp Mark Knopfler used(probably a Soldano custom), but any nice warm overdrive setting will suffice. The other important ingredient in getting that sound is to use a wah wah pedal. Rock it back to around a quarter of the way on, playing the whole time until you achieve the right sound. Once it sounds right, leave it like that for the whole piece. If you don't have a wah wah pedal, you can try to get the same effect by cutting nearly all the highs on your amp and boosting the lower mids. A wah wah pedal is really just a tone control anyway.

* I had previously stated that I used an LP standard, but I have no idea why! (I'm insane I guess...) :-)
