  • hello,

m indian but living in Australia.. i don't know y m not able to make soft roti. i add salt and hot water... could you plz suggest me what should i have to do to make soft rotis.. thank you

  • @radhekrishna5: There are a lot of subtle tips that need to be taken care of to make soft rotis - rolling them even, not too think and not too thin, the tava has to be right temp., and the rotis should not be over-cooked so that they dry up...these are all things that come with practice. Have patience and over time yours will be great :)

  • Hi,

Thank you for your many wonderful recipies, tried a few with great success. Have a question, what is the difference between a paratha and a chapati? I understand that the paratha version is made with baking powder?

  • @Dharma0911 : Paratha's are usually made with oil in them (while rolling and while cooking. Chapatis do not have oil in them or while cooking, ghee or oil is smeared after they are cooked :)

The parathas with baking soda are "parottas" from Kerala (Malabar region) :)

  • mmmmmmmm! ;)

A question: would it be possible to cut a "corner" (no corners on a round bread ... I know haha) off of the bread and stuff it with ... something yummy, or is the bread too fragile?

  • @heyawhaw : We think you are talking about stuffed parathas...we have videos on

    Stuffed Potato Paratha

    Radish Paratha

    Paneer Paratha

  • hello,

How long can I keep the Paratha in room temperature? can I save it longer in the fridge?

    Please advise

    Thanks

  • Thanks for posting -- it looks great!

  • That wa very helpful! Thanks alot!

  • @dhrocks11 As a child, watched my grandmother making them,....unfortunately, never learnt how to make them but like you, I also enjoyed them. There must be a video here showing how to make them.....best wishes/s

  • @Dharma0911 I enjoyed chapatis while in Muttrah Oman. If I remember the dough was first rolled in a long cylinder shape using oil then the long string of dough was made into a circular chapati starting from the inside and working to the outside. It was put on very hot wok-like pan for cooking. I would butter it and take it with tea in the morning. Are you familiar with this kind of chapati. If so where can I learn how to make it? Thank you.

  • Thanks girls! You are awesome!

  • Indian bread is the best!! Taste very good!
