1993 EUROPEANS : MARIA BUTYRSKAYA FP

Maria was in good shape at the beginning of the season (she later failed to qualify at worlds...). Her FP is packed with triple jumps and she deserved to finish higher than Kielmann and Szewczenko I think.

I want to point out to that Maria could not have beaten Kiellmann anyway even if she had beaten her in the free skate. Maria was 5th in the short behind Szewcenko, and Marina was 2nd in the short over Baiul. Because Marina was 3 places over Maria in the short that means even if Maria was 3rd in the LP and Marina 4th, Marina would still have stayed ahead overall.

Naw, I don't think she deserved to be placed over the German ladies. Only three of her Triples were good (well, the Lutz wasn't even really GOOD, but it wasn't bad) and she didn't do any proper jump combinations.
