Smarter, Faster Endpoint Management and Security with Tivoli Endpoint Manager

Hello, my name is Kimber Spradlin. I'm a Product Marketing Manager for Tivoli Endpoint Manager.

Tivoli Endpoint Manager is the new name for BigFix which was acquired by IBM recently. It is an endpoint management and security product.

It provides the customer with command and control over their distributed endpoint environment. Things like patch management, PC power management for utility savings, operating system deployment, software distribution, software license usage analysis making sure that you're optimized on your license contracts and security configuration compliance.

The product is very well received among our existing customers mostly because it just simply works. We have customers that can reach 90 percent or better compliance rate on their patches within 48 hours, so the speed, the control, the accuracy, the precision make the product very attractive to customers of all sizes.

For our compliance and security customers, it gets them a reduced vulnerability window, a very shortened risk window. It also reduces the cost of proving compliance. For our operational customers, it is reducing their helpdesk calls which has an enormous cost to it.

One of the great things about the BigFix product, now Tivoli Endpoint Manager, is how easy it is to upgrade. So recently we released the 8.0 version of the product which is a major release. One our large retail customers was able to upgrade to 8.0 over their lunch break without any worries, and they just had to call us to tell us we just upgraded to 8.0 over our lunch break. Nothing went wrong.

The Tivoli Endpoint Manager product keeps our customers up to date on a regular and continuous basis through pre-packaged, pre-tested patches. As we develop new configuration compliance controls, new regulations might come out, those are delivered through the cloud model, we will have something like an 80 to 90 percent adoption rate of a new version within six months.

Since the acquisition of BigFix by IBM, there's been a phenomenal investment across the board in the research and development departments, things that BigFix had on its roadmap that might have been one or two years out, now we have the resources to bring them to our customers.
