Great rare audience shot film by Davy Hall.
A couple blurry moments as Davy tries to focus from the balcony.
Excellent filming job with nice long segmants.

Long before the iphone/youtube days if you wanted to record segmants of video at a concert you had to use a bulky handheld video camera with actual film, which you would have to send away to be processed before you could even watch it on your home projector.

Here we have quite a classic & historic set recorded from the balcony of the Hammersmith in London As Tull were wrapping up the Stormwatch tour. This was one of the very last Tull shows with the classic lineup as John Evan, Barrimore Barlow, and David Palmer would be gone for good just days later. As you will see Tull were indeed in top form!

Imagine seeing this set these days.

This original film has just been re-transfered by myself using HD technology making this a first generation transfer with actual sound in 3 parts.
Please do not copy or use film without permission. Enjoy! Thanks to Davy!

  • As far as I can tell, none of this clip is actually in focus. Also, any copy of any video source is second generation, not first, and if this was duped from Super8 film (which is what it is) to video and then to DV, it's third generation.

I'm glad people are putting up tapes, but this sounds bad and looks worse.

  • technically yes the film itself is 1st gen this is a 1st gen capture from film direct to SD card. but thanks for sharing your astute knowlege. And your positive feedback. Glad you enjoyed it. Again shot over 30 years ago from the balcony if you watch the entire film 3 parts you wil see that it does come into good focus. How cool of davy to have filmed this to share with everyone who does appreciate it. Which seems to be everyone but you. I guess your standards are too high for us normal folk.
