Nice one, a good use of tone,, on watching your film i get a sense you would do well with charcoal. Maybe black out your page in charcoal and work in reverse revealing the white with a bit of white bread as an eraser,.Michaell Angelo and Leonardo would do this! . ( it's so liberating )That so called "teacher "is so wrong.

he was using mostly stippling and cross hatching for his shading.. your original sketch was fine but your shading techniques was off from his so it didnt look right

also watched your other vids... you got skill but you didn't use the right pencil (HB)

also you should've shadowed using "grid" and denseity of the lines as the amount of darkness in the shadow and not in how hard you press the pencil. also-
