[Minecraft] Block Transformation Glitch (1.1 patch)

Transform blocks of wool, stone slabs and wood into a completely different block. It works by altering the data value of the block, therefore leading to the block changing its appearence. Works great for getting rare dyed wools in survival mode and blocks which are usually not obtainable! :D

Please note this does not work all the time. It can work, then moments later not work. If the piston that is meant to transform the block does not move you can fix it by putting the red wire to both pistons on the ground and then put a redstone torch on top of the transforming block. You will see that the pistons both go up and down. Then set it up again as per shown in the video, place a coloured wool block on it with a redtorch, break it and it should become white. If things still fail I suggest that you check out the forum topic to download some schematics/maps that have a functioning example.

Apparently even the direction you build it in plays a factor. Do NOT build it in a direction so that its facing the x+,z+ direction. Build it on the same chunk aswell. Some times you may need to build a couple of the device to see where it works well.

This was performed on a legit copy of the Minecraft game, patched to 1.0.0 and with no mods or hacks being run. Works on both creative mode and survival mode. It continues to work in 1.1

@MrIlikpie If your building it on SMP please keep in mind now that Bukkit has patched this issue now in the 1.1 servers. Other servers which are not run on Bukkit it will still work.

@frebibmc I have heard that it will disabled in 1.2 but I can not confirm the source. If your still in 1.1 make full use of this just in case!

I was able to break the block 44:6 with a diamond pickaxe and it places just like slabs, but when you place one onto another it turns into the block with the slab sides.

@coolapple14 It depends what direction its facing. where you place it. how its placed. what chunk its in. and how its postitioned on the x and z axis. Its very tedious and hard to make

You can make this vertical, then it's vertical the torch isn't on the trasnforming block, and you can expand it to changing demage to stairs, and as a result make the transperant block(stairs with demage of atleast 5)
