@bierbuik to provide the pilot of a ship (it would be more useful in fighters) with an extra sense in the space.
-
@Rapanui5 why would anyone do that
-
@sereda008 no There is no sound in space because there is no air for the sound waves to travel through
-
@kanhf0514 there actually is some sort of "sound" in space, its jsut that we cant hear it with our ears. now hate me for that comment :D

my childhood game... awesome!
-
i downloaded my 'homeworld' on windows 7 and it still works!
-
@kanhf0514 They could have just added music.

@sereda008 You know, I allways ponder about the movies and games with sound in the space. Currently there exists ways to "listen" the sun, or even distant black holes. They emit certain stuff, like X-ray and radio signals. We capture these and turn them into regular audio. If a civilizacion is so advanced to make a craft surely they could use devices which would capture the emitions produced by engines, weapons, and even explosions and turn them into regular sounds with speakers in the cockpit

can you pilot a ship in dish game?

There is no sound in a vacum. It doesn't have a anything from which it can be produced, like you said on earth sounds medium is air, space doesn't have a source from which sound can travel much less created.
I hate to correct sierra, but is there no sound in space ?!

@sereda008 This is the conflict between being realistic and entertaining. Sure it is supposed to be no sound in space, but in terms of gameplay, noone wants to play a game with no sound.
