A quick remake of the classic Techno track 'Energy Flash' by Joey Beltram, inspired by a floppy disc library i inherited, as the first disk had the Ecstasy sample on it. Sounds by the Roland TR909, TR808, TB303, SH09 and Akai S1000. Track recorded live to DAT and pasted over the footage. Enjoy!

  • I didn't hear the 303

  • @GBart correct, it's used to trigger the sh-09 which is playing the sound, but the sequence was programmed on the 303 as the sh-09 has no sequencer.

  • Hi hat is too plain. have to add more patterns to it. should tick or flicker.. listen to the orig tracks from those days. And that pattern actually comes from cutting records and some freestyle music.

  • @nesNYC haha, thanks for the critique, but it's not a carbon copy, just a 20 minute mess in the studio:)

  • Hi, got 1 question, can you trigger a TR-606 through a s1000 so you can control it??

  • No, the 606 relies only on sync. Though the 606 has 2 trigger outs, so you can trigger most other equipment with them, like gates/cv/hold and most other controls.

  • the second time the "ecstasy" sample is triggered it should be a lower pitch. also the bass synth was a Juno and every 4 bars it should go dada-da--da-da. also it's missing the strings and choir sounds, but other than that, it's pretty good. what fun!!

  • nice job matey! :P

  • you've got a quality setup there my friend

  • Can i play in your studio as i am curious about the rest of the floppy's you have there.

    great vid, thx

  • Real Oldskool :-)

  • how do you get everything in sync?

  • What is the synth that starts at 1:04?

  • Wow! This is like hardware porn!
