Mockup of a potential alternate ammo system for Mass Effect 3, based around Shepherd wearing Personal Cooling Units that allow the commander to reuse heat sinks.

  • I dont get why "modern weapons" have limited ammo and old ones are limitless. Your system is beter than both ME1 and ME2.

  • @Nextbks He did say he used after-effects on that vid just to show on how it works

  • @muradin50 Somebody tried to force a way to tie it in to the storyline (not BioWare employee). His theory was that skills like sabotage were becoming widespread in the years since Shephard died, which was leading to soldiers having their weapons overloaded and being mowed down while they couldn't function. So the thermal clip was invented to prevent such a scenario.

  • This is genius, BIOWARE HIRE THIS GUY!

  • @ubermaster94 If you have two frictionless materials or one other item (one of the items also reduces heat, even though it shouldn't,) you can shoot any ammo you want, like say, inferno ammo.

    Well, not high explosive ammo.

  • @muradin50

Because if you actually read a damn Codex you would know that ME1 weapons don't have unlimited ammo.

Their ammo can last for entire long mission, but they suffer with overheat which makes close combat battle almost suicidal.

Geth love to just drop in in close combat. Oh and they have thermal clips( they didn't in ME1 since Bioware never planned to have limited ammo system) they were dominating in close combat.

Also most battles in ME universe are pirate hit&run raids.

  • @Golan7 spectre assault rifle X + snowblind rounds (VII or higher) + frictionless materials X = no overheat and no accuracy loss if you have the skills maxed.

  • BW should have used this.

  • @robertekew

Actually the Spectre-grade Assault Rifle can overheat in ME1 just like any other gun. Only way to not have them overheat is to time your shots and not "spray-n-pray" or just wait for the overheat meter to get to a safe point to start shooting again before it'll overheat.

  • Interesting. Kinda mixes the concepts of both ME1 and ME2. I actually wouldn't mind seeing this in ME3, though it's a little doubtful they'll add it by this point in production.

  • @muradin50 why you ask? Magic *snort *snort*

  • Balance it out with a slower cool-down time, and it's set
