This video produced by bluevoice.org explains the awful truth about dolphins in captivity and the cruel and horrific methods used to get them from the wild and vastness of the ocean to a concrete tank for show.

Japan annually hunts (slaughters) dolphins in what's known as a drive hunt or a drive fishery.

Japanese fisherman drive the dolphins close to shore by banging and creating noise on the side of their boats that interfere with the dolphins complex sonar communication system and confuse them.

They then round them into shallow bays and then proceed to (not always, depending on the location) inflect incredible pain and ultimate death on the highly social highly intelligent marine mammals by stabbing them with spears and other similar objects.

Most will end up in sushi bars or on supermarket shelves. But some lucky or unlucky ones will have their lives spared to be destined for a life in captivity. To live in an alien world from their own in a concrete tank forced to do common tricks for a public that is purposefully mislead by the facts.

Violently capturing wild dolphins from their home and killing them for meat and to be housed in captivity is one of the most immoral, wrongful, cruel, horrific and shameful acts human beings can display towards animals.

What god given right do we have to do such a thing? none! that's what.

Its disgusting and a complete crime to encase them in a tank so small their up and down one end in two and half seconds. Dolphins are built for speed and were designed to jump and swim miles a day.

Please take the time to educate yourself about captive animals and do not patronize the bad institutions who exploit them without any hesitation remorse or guilt. Do not provide the financial incentive for this disgusting act to continue, the dolphins are counting on you.

Please support Blue Voice's vital work and other conservation groups such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society who are actively involved in stopping this horrific and completely unnecessary act of cruelty towards dolphins.

  • 5 years ago I signed up to see Dolphins and swim with them. I thought they would be in the ocean but they were in a regular sized swimming pool. Against my better judgement I swam with them.Every day since I have had tremendous guilt.I helped to feed the marine park industry. These beautiful animals are being forced to entertain humans like circus clowns and live in substandard conditions.Let's let these magnificent Dolphins and other marine animals live in the ocean and admire them from afar!

  • now you know why shit is happening in japan

  • @MochiMegan so we must stop it. everywhere. please i beg you, it must stop. it's starting now in the maldives - and only if there's enough worldwide outrage will they be compelled to not build this. yes -it goes on everywhere. sadly. but this moment - right now - we have a chance to stop it from spreading. we have a chance right now.

  • when you're making a video like this LET THE VIDEO SPEAK FOR ITSELF! dont - for god's sake - DON'T let your voice become so full of emotion that your audience and your voice become the focus! all i think about right now is YOUR VOICE! (it's like a goddam star wars trailer! completely removes the subject matter and sacrifices the experience to the cinematic moment)... but you should be inspiring me to do something about this - NOT wanting me to go out and buy the DVD. Just talk for goodness sake.

  • This goes on everywhere, sadly.

  • @brandonashplant Dolphins in captivity lead a lonely, cruel existence. Dolphins live in family groups and captive dolphins are "broken" to perform for food.

  • Anyone who's interested in hearing more about this, search up "The Cove"...

  • why don't they bread them in captivity when I went to discovery cove (a sea world park) the dolphins where living great the trainers where nice and happy and so where the dolphins and it wasn't a swimming pool and not a tank either it was like a massive rocky sand open ocean looking thing it was beautiful and I really did loved the experience of swimming with these amazing creatures but that was because they were born in captivity :D so some dolphins are happy living with humans and stuff.

  • I've been there and most japanese don't even know about it. They have no idea! These people (the dolphin captuers) are obviously trying to hide it.

  • This is how dolphins are captured to get where people can see them.

  • The Chinese eat dogs yuck! It's terrible.
