  • I'm sorry, but just because you can 're-sell' it for higher price, that's absolutely retarded. I've seen far to many complaints from mac/x-mac users about the BAD customer service for Older Hardware/OS (For macs) and is more of a pain to trouble shoot if you have issues, and apple tells you to get a new one.

When I finally sell my computer because of age, it's going to be Low end, and no way should it demand premium prices for the time I try to sell it.

  • @Kerns0Phoegon this vid was still during the PowerPC days having the largest share, now it is all intel. I promise you from personal experience while PPC was around you could recoup a lot of the cost. Now, it is not quite the same but i sold my macbook for $700 when i got it for 1000, not a bad deal. This is an old video, things change over time.

  • LOL! Computers arent like cars that u buy and resell later! Why buy a used MAC when u can get a brand new PC with newer hardware for the same price XD

  • @Kibasa i would agree with you if only they were not selling on ebay.

  • The price doesn't really matter in developed countries, but Apple will never get a good market share in the 3rd world. I have lived there, and a Pentium 4 processor, 512mb ram, and 40gb hard drive are considered overkill. So while macs may succeed in countries like the USA, not many people will get them globally, especially Southern Asia.

  • @dubstepgamer wow, great comment to put things in perspective.

  • Spec for spec, macs ARE overpriced.

Go and build a custom PC with similar specs to whatever apple desktop you choose. When shopping from Newegg, the custom build WILL be cheaper.

  • you could built the most high end core i7 extreme, with a 4870 x2 , 6 gigs of server ram and it is cheaper than a baseline mac pro so I have no idea what you guys are taking about macs are cheaper. the motherboard is the server edition so they can be compared although this mob is up to 24 gigs of memory because core i7 hasn't matured yet but it is still faster than a mac pro. also comes with a tb hd cost 2400$ with shipping.

  • THIS IS NOT TRUE ... The truth is an Alienware PC laptop will have a higher resale than a Mac.

  • I looked up the cost of buying a custom PC from a company called Origin PC, and a Macbook Pro both with same exact specs. Both 17", i7 2860's, 16gb ram, 256 gb SSD. The the Mac was $3450, the custom built was $2575, AND it had a dedicated gpu (gtx 560m), the mac didn't.

I guess, though with that being said. I would never have purchased a 'USED' powerPC/Computer for that cost. Though honestly, That seems somewhat greedy and selfish. you got years and years out of it, and you sell it at 'premium price' and that to me seems wrong honestly. I'll never say give your stuff away, but don't rip people off when you sell your old stuff.

  • @Robin90modell 1) I know Office is a software package. So is iWork. MS Office, when you buy it one by one, can cost hundreds of dollars. That sucks. 2) 100-500 dollars for Windows 7 was referring to the price of buying a license considering you were upgrading. Sure, buy a new computer, the os is practically free, same with Mac and PC. 3) Most people use their "current os until they buy a new PC" because they have no idea how to upgrade.

    *Mac/Ubuntu*

  • @rifall

Microsoft office is an office package made by microsoft, but can be found on both Windows and mac OS. However, there are free alternatives (like open office, which is very good). That is 50 dollars less than iWork.

The Mac OS is upgrade price (you've already paid for the OS when you bought the computer). On windows price is to buy a completely "new" license to the newest windows version. Most people use their current OS (which is still given updates), until they buy a new PC.
