I have had some requests for this model to be run in manual notch mode so all the steps can be heard. Tsunami AT-1000 decoder installed with 16x35 oval 8 ohm speaker with no baffle over rear truck.

  • Let me tell you this, EMD has the best start sounds ever. I mean the sound of a turbo charger starting up, just makes you want to stand up and cheer

  • How did you do such a short horn blast? I can't do that with my NCE DCC power cab.

  • Oh yeah, for sure there is a serious difference between this Tsunami compared to the other sound decoder you posted in the previous video using the same locomotive. This is much more realistic sounding compared to the other one. I think you just helped me make up my mind on which sound decoders & speaker set-up I want to put in my 4 new KATO SD70MAC's. Thanks for sharing this & the other cool videos you have posted.

  • Im sure about it. Ive run hundreds of these locos the 12 years I was with CSX.

  • @AmJaxineer Are you sure about that? Do you have any Youtube videos with that? I'd like to know more about that engine knotching. I'm asking becuase I wrote software for operating my model train over the internet. See h t t p : // atc . lovethosetrains. com

  • Sounds great. Would be nice if they could get the notching right. You cant go into notches 6 or 7 when coming up from idle in real life. What happens is that as soon as the engineer places the throttle into No.6, the 710's rpm's go straight to No.8 run, though the loco only loads at Notch 6. Same thing with No.7. So if he goes to Notch 6, the rpms go to No.8 for the time period of about 10-15 secs, then the rpm's reduce to whatever notch the throttle is in.

  • I just installed my first Tsunami (645) into an Aussie loco. Do you know how I can activate manual notching and shutdown sequence (running NCE PowerCab). Nice vid. The Soundtraxx recordings are great, thou LokSound kills Soundtraxx for accel and decel motor sync.

  • That is one of the best sounding decoders I have heard!
