It would be great if Queen Beatrix and Queen Elizabeth would do a state visit before one of them steps down(or whatever you call it).

@histrav I doubt there would be kisses exchanged if the other monarch were the King of Thailand or the Emperor of Japan. No, I'd say the two COUSINS exchanged kisses on the cheek upon meeting.

@nauort23 No, monarchs do not typically curtsey to one another. A curtsey (or bow for men) would indicate a recognition of one's superior, and two reigning monarchs are constitutionally equal in status. On this visit, the two queens (Elizabeth II & Beatrix) exchanged kisses on the cheek upon meeting.

Princess Anne kisses--then curtseys to--Queen Beatrix, but I missed the two queens greeting each other. Do Queens curtsey to each other?

@1gxoc I don't think that the Queen has accepted Camilla as part of the Royal Family. At WIlliam and Kate's wedding when she was going through the receiving line, she skipped Camilla and went on to Charles. Camilla then had to interrupt with an awkward curtsy. She then tried to kiss the Queen but the Queen turned away.
