I am very familiar with G&S, and I did watch the whole thing several times. I've been in all 13 G&S operas each on more than one occasion, even directing and conducting a few. Everything about this, words & music are of a much later style. They do quote music from Iolanthe and the Mikado in this, but then they always segue into something that sounds more Noel Coward than Sullivan. It's still funny, but I still don't see the connection with G&S.

@teddyleevin91 Did you listen to the whole thing? How familiar are you with G&S anyway? The harmonies are more modern, but the syntax & structure match quite well, for a piss-take.
