Thanks for posting! The first time I saw the #3007 was about 35 years ago when she was a static display at Quinsippi Island at Quincy, Illinois. She was the most amazing thing I had seen; a gigantic black and gray monster utterly different from the big green diesel engines I was used to seeing on the rails at that time. I've had a love for steam locomotives ever since, and I hope #3007 is returned to her former glory as a living, breathing thing!

@CMedo At least it looks complete. and no major rust. The rotted cylinder jacket is nothing that can't be fixed.
-
@mark10788 well, just as a heads up, I don't think that's the kind of thing you wan't to disclose in public.

Is there a way i can help even if im eleven?
-
@orangetrain66 I think thats true.

As far as I know, IRM wasn't planning to mechanically restore the 3007(thought that would be cool) and the only reason it's even out of the barn is because it was supposed to have asbestos removed from it.

The intent is to bring at least one of these back into operation. She may look much worse than she is inside. BNSF is not adverse to allowing steam on their tracks, which is another good thing. Patience!

@towertooth456 when though
how long will it take to restore her as in years

@Strasburg1991 I really don't know. I would imagine it'd take awhile though.

how much work does 3007 need
CMedo 1 year ago
@CMedo Seeing the condition she's in, probably a lot.

When you say restore, do you mean "cosmetically restore" or "restore to operation"? Quite a lot of people say restore, but they never specify which one.

@razgrizaceblaze259 I was actually going to add that to the description when I uploaded the video, but obviously I forgot. :P
They're restoring it to operation.
