That's true! And that's why I don't say any european league is better than any south american. Barcelona was the best team of the world in these last 3 years? Yes. But that Barca was a point out of the curve - I believe only 3 or 4 teams in the whole history of football could stand against in stardard conditions.
But BBVA was also populated by shitty teams like Almeria, Tenerife, Malaga, Levante and Osasuna. Put that FCB in that environment, and Messi can score 91 goals. The guy is awesome tho.
