Jazak Allaah bi khair. This is of benefit, because taking from good increases in good, by Allaah's leave, and taking from bad has nothing but bad with it, and this too is from Allaah's leave. Allaah protect us, have mercy upon us, and do not let us go after the incorrect guidance. Ameen.

With regards to the verse you quoted, the scholars have explained that it means that if a evil person comes with news you verify, but if a trustworthy person comes you accept his Jarh (criticism) without making sure. And Shaykh Ubayd is a scholar who is praised by several other scholars like Shaykh Rabee, Suhaymee, Bazmool etc.

A qutbi, is a follower of Sayyid Qutb.
