I remember this match. Great players, great points! In some ways tennis was more interesting in those days, before they invented nuclear-powered racquets. Today, Lendl would be a major power player.

@Thetoughestweight1 Just because he had a great command of consistency doesn't make him a pusher. He hit the ball relatively early and cleanly he just because didn't smash the ball; he moved it around. He was smart and knew he could move the ball around to make it difficult for his opponent and put him in control while maintaining control. That is a very hard thing to do. He was aggressively consistent I'd say although he could rely on speed, scrambling and stamina to win pts

@Thetoughestweight1 It's not overachieving at all. He had incredible consistency and stamina, and could keep his level of play up for a very long time which is helpful for best of 5 sets. Also his whole game was so solid; he could mix up his game more than others so he could get into a better rhythm in the match than his opponent whose game was not as varied. Wilander was an incredible competitor and he was in no way a "pusher."

@vlovesrafa Rafa Nadal gets his finger inside his anus before every point to have extra power... his underwear at the end of the match, may be always full of fecal matter.

@vagasesino .Your comments are just Wrong!The language is uncalled for and Rafa is not gay!...Whatever you say about him though,you can't take his titles away from him.He has 10 majors and counting.

Dang, Mats always looked old, didn't he? :) Calling him a pusher is a bit strong, his baseline game was perhaps that of a high class "pusher", but was versatile, and could do more than just push when necessary, and he had an excellent tennis mind in terms of shot selection and tactics, and was a good competitor. Mats was also pretty darn fast as well.

@altfratuben Thanks man, i know...

@vagasesino your comment is like the most intellectual I have ever seen
Wilander king of "pushers" and overachivers (nothing wrong with it), he's got like 7 Grandslam titles out of 24 won tournaments.
